7 The Verses of Sense Always Advised by All International Relations students

What is HI, anyway?

Not many people know the true abbreviation of the HI course. Some think that HI stands for 'Islamic Law' or 'International Law'. In fact, the real extension of the HI department is 'International Relations'.

Even though there are still many who do not know the stands, the HI department has become a prima donna of some of the leading campuses in Indonesia - and even in the world. All-round as a HI student became an interesting thing to observe. Come on, find out how it feels to be a child of HI!

1. The appendage of the word "International" makes this department sound prestigious. In lay eyes, HI children must be good at English and often go abroad.

International Relations. The word "International" in the name of the department made it seem prestigious. No wonder, if this department attracts many students every year. Not infrequently others see HI students as "classy" students and often go abroad. Despite the fact, there are many HI children who have never been abroad. It is precisely because they have never been abroad that they register in the HI department.

Apart from creating prestige, the word "international" also gives an image that the HI child cas-cis-cus speaks English. Now, when KKN, surely HI children are asked to teach English. But, in reality, not all HI children are perfect English, and not all students who speak English fluently are HI children.

For those of you who are HI kids, hopefully this embedded image doesn't make you complacent. On the contrary, hopefully this will make you more enthusiastic so that the image will not only be an image, but also a reality.

2. Many HI children are also considered "Stone Heads". Not to be outdone and overwhelmed by the argument he was carrying.

argumennya yang kuat memang tak mudah dipatahkan
Many HI children who are certainly often said to be weak, stone heads, debaters, and all the attributes related to effort as hard as maintaining arguments. But, there is a reason why we can be so and not carelessly defend the argument. As HI children, we learn how to diplomacy, negotiate and defend interests. Well, these sciences are not infrequently carried away in social life. The argument that we build is not careless, it must be rational and represent the issue or problem being discussed.

Apart from being well-known for defending arguments, HI children are also sensitive in capturing information. Therefore, HI's children are also required to be up-to-date with information that is available, both political and other international issues that are being hit. Therefore, it is not uncommon for HI children (especially those in the early semesters) to subscribe to newspapers or read through online media. The ability to absorb this information is often used as material to express opinions based on facts. So, besides being good at defending arguments, HI children are also undoubtedly broad-minded.

3. HI children have a God-level attitude. The questions are critical and often make you uncomfortable hearing them

The HI child is also secretly known. The level of curiosity is high and the questions are many plus long. We are very open with info, news, phenomena, and new knowledge that is interesting to us. This attraction sometimes makes a misunderstanding. Not meant to argue, but rather to want to get a satisfying answer from the interesting things.

A simple example, when a lecturer is teaching material that draws our attention and opens a question and answer, the typical question of a HI child is circling or the question tends to be "looking for". This "search" question often makes other people sometimes just feel tested because the questioner already knows the answer. But, it's not all like that. Many also have good and basic questions. That's why, famous HI kids are fun to talk to.

4. Student exchange programs and debate competitions held by universities are usually filled with HI children. Those who work at international offices are usually HI kids too!

Universities often hold a number of student exchange programs, there are also many students who do not want to waste this opportunity, including HI children who are known to be opportunists. In addition to dominating the campus program, HI's children are also diligent in participating in the English debate competition. The issues raised in the debate competition are indeed not far from the broad scope of HI children, so there are indeed many HI children who are involved in this activity.

In addition to programs and debate competitions that we 'master', international offices also become a place for HI children to develop wings in the administrative field. Either because of coincidence there is also the word 'international' or indeed the international affairs office at the university will require many HI graduates.

5. Although there are many who study HI because they want to be diplomats, don't be surprised if in the middle of the semester you find new ideals that are totally different

While still at the beginning of college, the dream of becoming a diplomat was still thick and tightly held. After semester 4, 5 then 6 HI children have started to bow out. The diplomat is no longer the only achievement that can be achieved through the HI department. Because, a lot of knowledge turns out to be learned in HI. We do not always learn about diplomacy and international relations theory, but also learn about MNC (Multinational Corporation), INGO (International Non-Governmental Organization), Macroeconomics, and others.

From a variety of sciences that bring new things that attract attention. Apart from being a diplomat, we can be business people, activists, journalists, researchers or writers. But, the idealism of becoming a diplomat is also worth fighting to the end if we really want it.

6. Intention to want to continue your education, but you have to worry about deciding what S-2 majors are in line with your International Relations background

selectively choose S2 majors which are in line with the majors via www.scholarship-search.org.uk

Doubts also come if we have the desire to continue to S2 because the sciences studied are quite diverse. We often talk about economics and politics, international law, cultural diplomacy, or problems in developing countries. We also have a little difficulty determining the appropriate master's program, whether to stay in HI or move to another department.

A growing trend is that HI graduates begin to explore S-2 in economics. For example, Economics, Banking, or the Master of Business Administration (MBA). But beyond that, the fields of politics, public policy, or even the Master of International Relations are also in great demand. The lack of jobs reserved specifically for HI graduates, making the choice to proceed to the S-2 is a good alternative. By taking a Masters we can enrich knowledge, and even our diplomas can be used to get a more strategic position at work.

7. Life after graduation is not easy. Even so, there is never a feeling of regret because your mind becomes open and critical after becoming a child of HI

mencari pekerjaan untuk anak HI memang tak semudah yang dipikir

Well, this is one of the problems of HI children. Unlike children in exact sciences who are clearer about what profession they will pursue, HI children who have extensive knowledge tend to have little difficulty finding work. If you only rely on the foreign ministry and CPNS, you certainly can't, because there are around 5000 HI majors who graduate every year in Indonesia. To overcome this, we absolutely need other abilities to develop ourselves and find suitable jobs, although not infrequently it "goes off track" from HI.

But that's not an excuse for regret, really. Open mindedness and objectives that have been trained while being a student will be very useful, no matter what work you will eventually work on.

Entering International Relations is not just a matter of prestige. It is also important to really have an interest in this field. Agree, O you children of HI?
